Our story
What if ideas could find their people?
Our names are Lamar Fatani and Yara Alkabti, and we are currently medical students at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, beginning our final year this August.
We have always had a passion for research, but throughout medical school we found the process of getting involved incredibly difficult.
Like many students, we spent years sending cold emails, approaching professors after lectures, speaking to doctors on the wards, joining societies, attending summer schools, and constantly asking if anyone needed help with a project.
Despite all of that, there was very little to show for it.
Over the last five years, we were fortunate enough to contribute to a handful of publications, but we couldn't help but think:
There had to be a better way.
Almost every week, we would hear someone say:
“This would make a great case report.”
“Someone should do an audit on this.”
“I wonder if there's any research on that.”
Yet most of those ideas never went any further.
Doctors are busy.
Researchers are busy.
Students don't know where to start.
Good ideas are everywhere, but the people needed to bring them to life rarely find one another.
Earlier this year, we asked ourselves a simple question:
What if ideas could find their people?
What if a physician could take 30 seconds out of their day to write down an idea and watch it grow?
What if students could stop relying on cold emails?
What if researchers could find collaborators in minutes instead of months?
That question eventually became Resphere.
Over the last several months—and more late nights than we would like to admit—we have spent hundreds of euros we didn't have building something we genuinely believe can help future students, researchers, clinicians, and academics.
Resphere.
Where ideas find their people.
It is still early, and this is only the beginning, but our hope is simple:
That one day, no good idea is lost simply because the right people never found each other.
Thank you for being one of the first people to be part of this journey.
